What made you become an photographer? How did you start photography?
The life, just simply. As a broken child with eternal open scars, the art offered me a great opportunity to reconnect myself with reality, the world and people. I have so many things to say and express. The photography is a way of revenge. I am very fortunate to have at my side trustworthy friends and talented people who believe in me and follow me in my projects. Today I speak with photography. Yesterday it was with the drawing and videoperformance. Tomorrow it may be with something else? Whatever happens, the original intent is still the same. Only the adventure becomes more and more intense and colorful. This landscape begins to be pretty nice ..
Tell us something to your way of thinking and acting for your work “Cannibal Flowers”?
I had this idea in mind : Some kinds of rotting bodies where born beautiful flowers. So I decided to go see my friend Julie Basson, florist in Lyon. I asked her to design floral structures for this project, with her personal touch. The first idea evolved and here is the final result.
As each of my projects, I try to build them as open as possible to free interpretation. Everyone can see his own stories or meanings. Art or fashion? Tribute to the human beauty and thoughts about the body modifications over the time? How do you see these pictures? What they create in your mind? Is it only about the aesthetic or can we see some sociological, philosophical, psychological ideas? Are they questioning our own body and our relationship with nature? If you ask me about the meaning of one piece of my work, the only answer you will get is: And you? Come closer and tell me what you see. I love to hear from those who watch my work. Sometimes they even bring me answers that I didn’t even think about.
Do you have any upcoming projects we should know about?
I will continue this work, but I don’t want it to be too long. Everything depends of the models (and I’m difficult on this point). In the meantime, many projects are waiting on my desk. Papers, many papers with drawings and words on it, are just waiting to be realized. Among them, two or three new series, very different from “Cannibal Flowers”.
