Elle:
How did you start out in photography? Do you remember your first camera?
Rebekah Campbell:
I started taking photos around the age of 15, my first camera that I used was a Pentax K1000 and my dad’s old digital camera. I flucuated between those two and really tried to take photos everyday.
Elle:
Would you give a brief walk through your work flow?
Rebekah Campbell:
It depends on the project, really. But I love when I work with a stylist that really understands the feeling and vibe of how I shoot. For editorials, I go through options for girls to shoot and pick ones that have something a bit off or weird with them and then move from there. I try to shoot as much film as I do digital work, but that also just depends on the project.
Elle:
What do you enjoy most about being a photographer?
Rebekah Campbell:
I enjoy meeting insanely talented friends and people and also saying things without having to talk.
Elle:
Do you feel that the city of NYC influences your creativity?
Rebekah Campbell:
Yes for sure! I love the city’s flow of creative individuals and oppurtunities.
Elle:
What was the best career advice you were ever given?
Rebekah Campbell:
A friend of mine told me that the only way to get your work out there is to do it yourself, no one is ever going to do it for you in the beginning.
Elle:
What is you dream project?
Rebekah Campbell:
A dream project of mine is to shoot a perfume campaign! I’ve recently been really enjoying making films, it’d be wonderful to do the two to create a story.
