Ursprünglich stammt Gustavo Lopez Mañas von Granada in Spanien, in der er auch Photography and Fine Arts studierte. Seine Karriere als Filmregisseur und Fotograf begann er in Barcelona. Gustavo drehte Fashion-Filme für Labels wie Burberry, Massimo Dutti, Uterqüe, Tous und Revlon.

How did you both start out in this industry?
Gustavo Lopez Mañas:
We met 9 years ago, Lorena was the producer of a very important production company in Barcelona and she was looking for a new photographer. She contact me and a new great adventure started. We start working together on advertising photography and after few years we moved together to the fashion film world and we created Gus&Lo
Elle:
Would you give a brief walk through your work flow?
Gustavo Lopez Mañas:
Our work is 70% preproduction, is all about thinking about the idea and the plan of how to do it. The shoot is of course very important but the other important part of our work is the editing.
This is the part of the process where to finally make that everything make sense.
Elle:
What has been the biggest influence on you photography/film?
Gustavo Lopez Mañas:
The biggest influence is the life it self, everything that is surrounding us can inspired us.
Elle:
Tell me a bit about where you work and what are you specialize in.
Gustavo Lopez Mañas:
We work all around the world and we feel really lucky because we love traveling around. Our base is in New York and we visit Spain very often.
Elle:
What is the one film that you are most proud of?
Gustavo Lopez Mañas:
Snake, is a personal project that we did with Vinila Von Bismark, we love the atmosphere of the film. For us transmit a lot of feelings in one film. Also the shoot was a great experience, really intense and we had a lot of fun!
Elle:
What is your dream project?
Gustavo Lopez Mañas:
Our dream project is the project where we can achieve and show the feelings that we want. A real expression of what is in our mind. And of course have the money enough to be able to do it.
