Heute präsentieren wir euch in unserer Serie „Models we love“ Mercedes Chiesa.
Love or money: Love, always.
My style is most inspired by.. a mixture of rock, comfort and sensuality. Even though I don´t give much importance to labels when wearing clothes I find Balmain as the one I feel most identified with.
I got into this world when I arrived from my home town Ushuaia to Buenos Aires. It was a big transition due to the fact I was changing the quiet and secure life from a little town to the rush and adrenaline of the big city which, I have to admit, I had expected since I was very young. I was 17 then.
It was a bit hard the first 3 years because I didn´t know how to handle myself, how to start, plus the fact that I was alone for the first in my life. My family was living in Ushuaia and they weren´t fond of me working as a model because they knew of too many bad experiences and didn´t want anything bad happening to me but, because of them too, I have learned that If you want something, you go for it, you find the way and don´t let anything or anyone stop you. There might be bad times but those are the ones that will make you stronger and take you to the next level. Luckily I learned quickly –still learning- , not so fortunately I learned it the hard way. In many cases the naivety of the ones who are just starting to get to know this profession can lead them to being taken advantage of. This is why I recommend investigating before going anywhere, and If possible, accompanied by someone. Better prevention than cure.
I started falling more and more in love with this world, till the point of no return. At the same time I got passionate about photography and visual arts. I´ve grown so much in so many aspects… Experiences, people, opening my mind and showing me how amazing this life can be, if you want to… and I’m completely thankful for it.
Vogue, Elle certainly.
Best Advice for castings…
Be prepared, always. It’s your profession, act like one. Investigate the people you are going to work with, look for references, and educate yourself in what you love. It might not be easy, but as many times you surely have heard nothing is impossible, impossible just takes a little longer.
How I keep my body and soul in check…
I’m not fond of gym so I try different sports so I don’t get bored. I´ve practiced: air dance, acroyoga, swimming, pilates, boxing, martial arts, skating, skiing and I think this interview wouldn’t be enough to name all of them. I think of this life like a journey and I like experiencing new things, enjoying each thing I do. I do squat and abdominal exercise at home three times a week before going to sleep, some consistency is needed to what body care is referred to.
For my soul art does its work.

On a typical Saturday night, you can find me…
adventuring myself in the city, following the sense of the night. Sometimes we get together with my best friends and make art. Some of them paint or write, others play music or we just talk about life.
One thing I couldn’t live without…
Love. Material things? Maybe my pillow :P
My perfect day would be waking up on a sunny day, no matter where… the city, the beach, the mountains. Grab my camera, my music, something to write and draw, a book and just get lost, welcoming whatever the tide brings.
