How did you become involved with photography? Do you remember your first camera?
Curiosity made me discover photography, I just wanted to try. I wanted to know if I could make pictures that I like, express myself throught a camera. I didn’t know it would attract me this much so quick. And now it’s clearly like a distinct part of who I am.
Yes of course I remember my first camera, I sill have it ! It was a little bridge camera and I used to take pictures of everything around me with it. I started in my bedroom, then on parties with my friends, etc… I didn’t know anything about aperture, framing and stuff. I learned a lot with this first camera.
Tell us something to your way of thinking and acting for your work „BEHIND“?
It came quite naturally in fact. I like body details, skins and shoulders. It was challenging to take photographs of people from behind and not to present a serie of too identical shots. But one thing that I really enjoy in making photography in natural condition is that you have to constantly adapt your technic from a place to another. Colors are different, mood is different and everybody has his own posture. I’m actually thinking of continuing this photo serie.
What has been the biggest influence on your photography?
Naturalness and intimacy at home are one of my major inspirations. Everyday life can be in the same time monotonous while remaining special and unique. That’s what I try to emphasize throught my photography with the people I met.
Can you name some photographers that inspires you with their works and why?
Iím a long-time appreciator of photographers like Helmut Newton (who totally captivated me with the unique glamour and erotic atmosphere he created), Richard Kern (I admire for the naturalness and authentic approach he seems to have), or Larry Clark (and his controversial/rough/true photographs plus his filming style), and many others like Roy Stuart, Sam Haskins, Marianna Rothen, David Hamilton, Jonathan Leder, Bettina Rheims, Juergen Teller, etc.
