Ana Dias – In love with the photography

Ana Dias erzählt in ihren Fotostrecken ganze Geschichten.

Elle:
How did you get into photography?

Ana Dias:

My passion for photography began when I was asked to pose as a photographic model. I loved the experience and wanted to try how it would feel like to be on the other side of the camera. Since then I haven’t stopped!

Elle:
After the actual shoot is done, there is still a lot more work to do – are you editing the pictures yourself?

Ana Dias:

Yes, I alway do the editing of my photos myself. It gives me a lot of pleasure to see them change bit by bit. Also I do the pre-production of all my work. I love for my work to be mine from start to finish.

Elle:
How did you find your style?

Ana Dias:

I have always been in love with pin-up art from the 50s, and one day I decided to recreate it. I’m fascinated by expressive and sweet faces and I always look for those in my models.

Elle:
How was the idea born for „Gentlemen-Prefer-Blondes“ ? The same look like Marilyn – is it just a fortuity? 😉

Ana Dias:

The idea came to me when I met Suzel (Marilyn). I was able to see some similarities with Marilyn in some of her usual gestures and I thought it would be great if I could make a tribute to the greatest diva of all times. It was a unique experience and I trully felt sometimes that I was photographing Marilyn Monroe! Suzel was a perfect Marylin!

Elle:
Which emotions do you want to trigger?

Ana Dias:

I want people to feel joy! I want people to smile and be happy when they look at my work!

Elle:
Do you prefer to work with models who have a certain look?

Ana Dias:

Yes, there are some features I look for in my models: I wan’t them to look beautiful, with a nice smile and a charismatic gaze. I usually pick girls with eyes wide apart and a small perky nose.

Elle:
Why is photography so important for you?

Ana Dias:

Photography makes me travel to a far away place… where everything is beautiful and perfect.

Thank you very much for your time and the interview, Ana. Hug & Kiss
